ABOUT
A group of separate businesses.
Each has its own name, its own people and its own market. What they share is how they are run: patiently, privately, with attention to small things.
THE NAME
影武者
kage · shadow
musha · warrior
Kagemusha (kah-geh-MOO-sha) is Japanese. Literally, "shadow warrior". In practice, a double — the man who stood in for a lord so that his absence went unnoticed.
Akira Kurosawa 黒澤 明 made it the title of his 1980 film, which shared the Palme d'Or at Cannes. A petty thief is made to impersonate a dead warlord, and slowly grows into the part.
We took the name because we like work that does its job without asking to be looked at.
